Comprehensive clearance of a former military site

This real-life archival site shows the phased mechanized clearing of a former military unit's terrain. The exact location and contractor are not being published. The footage documents a specific stage of the work; it is not presented as proof that the entire site was completed and accepted.

Dense self-grown tree and shrub vegetation has developed on the area. The task is not simply to push visible vegetation aside. The work area is divided into sections, safe access is provided for the technique and it is specified what is removed, what is kept and what result should remain after the machine.

Pre-screening determines the safe approach

In the case of terrain with a previous special purpose, the work does not start only on the visible state of the vegetation. Before mobilization, the right to assign, the boundaries of the work area, the authorized access and the purpose of the subsequent preparation are confirmed. Known underground and overhead networks, existing facilities, shafts, foundations, fences, obstacles and areas that should not be affected are specified.

The history of such a property does not automatically mean the presence of hazardous materials, munitions or contamination. If the documents, the inspection or the risk assessment give reason, the necessary specialized checks are carried out by competent persons before the machine work. In the event of an unidentified object, unknown underground facility or other unforeseen circumstance, work in the specific section is suspended until clarification.

Staged clearing and mulching on site

After marking the boundaries, the terrain is worked in sections. Thus, the operator maintains visibility to terrain and obstacles, and the contractor can track progress against preset limits.

The specialized mulcher shreds the bushes, branches and allowable woody vegetation on site. This reduces the bulk of the material and limits the accumulation of large piles at the periphery. The resulting layer is not automatically described as a completed reclamation or a ready construction site. Whether the material remains, is collected, hauled away or follows further processing depends on the purpose of the terrain and the agreed result.

The technology is selected according to the section

Close-up footage shows the mulching head processing the dense vegetation. Wider views show the cleared strip after the pass. This is direct evidence of the method, but it does not replace the survey, the measurement of the area and the plan for the specific site.

In different areas, different operations may be necessary: ​​selective removal around preserved elements, mulching, root work only when necessary, separation of exposed waste and subsequent profiling. 2. scheme of working areas and elements to save;
3. survey report with known networks, facilities, access and restrictions;
4. risk assessment and written contingency rules;
5. technological sequence by sections;
6. initial photo protocol and performance log;
7. separate tracking of established waste streams within the applicable permit and contractual scope;
8. quantitative report according to the pre-agreed unit of measure;
9. final photographic record, residual activities and bilateral acceptance.

"Cleaned" should have a measurable meaning

For an object, the result may be access and visibility; for another — removed vegetation to a set height, separated waste, processed roots or preparation for the next construction stage. The criteria are written down in advance, not left for discussion at the end.

Acceptance may be tied to treated areas, condition of remaining material, preserved items, accessibility and photographs of comparable items. We do not state area, term, productivity, depth or percentage of volume reduction when these data are not documented.
